“When walking, walk. When eating, eat.” ― Zen Proverb
Do you eat fast? Do you often sit down to a meal and have no recollection of the experience after? The culture of constantly doing things and doing them fast often spills into the act of eating, leading to a mindless destruction of food matter. An experience devoid of the richness that could be.
Bring presence and mindfulness to the practice of eating. What’s the texture of the food like? How does it taste? Take your time, one mouthful at a time. Be mindful of what the meal has done to your energy levels and mental alertness. Has it sated you or has it left you hungry for more?
Meditation need not be restricted to the cushion. Bring it to the dining table too.
