“The first wealth is health.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Where in your priorities is your health? Where is it in relation to your career, relationships, money and fun? To me, health – mental and physical – is the number one priority. It’s the foundation that supports effective accomplishment of all other priorities.
- Eating right upgrades my focus and energy levels. Eating right can make the difference between feeling awesome and feeling shady.
- Exercising regulates stress and gets me into the flow state when I do have to work. It’s counter-intuitive, but giving up exercise time to work more will makes me less efficient and productive.
- Meditating and strong sleep prevents anger from getting in the way of productive collaborations.
A theoretical question to put things into perspective: how much money would you have to be paid to give up having an able body? I suspect no amount would be sufficient.
